“Leadership is putting the needs of others in front of your own.”
I love to study leadership. What makes people follow other people? Character, Personality, Charisma, Looks, etc. Leadership, by Biblical standards, is placing the needs of others in front of your own.
“25Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-37, New International Version)
Here is the test of a servant: What do you act like when people treat you like one? Many Christians want to serve, but we want recognition for our service. We often grumble and complain when when our acts of service are not recognized. My challenge to us is to lead by serving with a humble spirit and a quiet tongue. It’s your serve.
