Diverse City – Core Values

Recently at the “Harvest Crusade” I took the opportunity to show my moves as Toby Mac and his crew performed “Diverse City”. The total attendance for the conference was an estimated 41,500. That is incredible, but I want to put it into a little perspective. The low estimates of the population of the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) is 1.2 million. That means about 3.5% of the population came to the Harvest Crusade.

I am not saying that the Harvest Crusade was not successful. 2,471 professed a new commitment to Jesus Christ. That is Incredible! I am saying that a single event will never change our city.

A radical transformation will occur when Christians stop going to church, and become the church. Be Jesus to people who are not like you. Have a woman at the well experience (John 4). Have dinner with someone of a different socio-economical level (Matthew 9).

By loving people who are not like me, I am reflecting the love of God.
