Worship: Life’s Soundtrack

My home is completely engulfed with the cultural hurricane of High School Musical 2. My daughter hosted a party with about a dozen screaming girls that were completely hyped up with sweet-tarts and the hope of Troy or Chad as a sweetheart.

I was sentenced by the pajama clad dozen to my room for the duration of the movie. During solitary confinement, I conjured up two profound thoughts.

One – I am now a father of a pre-teen. That thought hurt. I could hear my girl scream with delight as the movie ended with a final kiss. The days with my little girl are almost gone, and I am going to enjoy them as much as possible.

Two – If my life broke out with music, what would the soundtrack sound like. Music sets the mood of any movie. Without the Jaws theme song, it would be just a fishing show on ESPN. In fact the whole movie can be told in three minutes set to a John Williams score.

As a follower of Christ, worship is the soundtrack of my life.

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship.

Romans 12:1 (New International Version)

I am going to build this out further in the coming weeks, but I can see the possibility of a youtube video entitle: TrueLife Musical.

She is 9 yrs into life, and adolescence is trying to sneak up on our family like a bad Halloween movie. :-)
