Today is my wife’s birthday, and on this special day I am giving her a great gift. We are moving much of the church equipment to “Pump It Up” to get ready for our first Sunday. It has been wonderful to have so many people in our home this past year, and we have learned the blessing of hospitality.
If you know Darcy, she is an organizer extraordinaire, and and being able to pack stuff up is just plain fun for her. (I really love this about her) It makes me think about compartmentalizing my life. There is something in us that wants to sepearate out the part of our lives for the sake of pure survival. Physically, this is often a healthy thing. The proverbial tight rope walker shouldn’t be thinking about the emotional state of his wife as he walks.
Spiritually, this is very dangerous. Everything is spiritual.
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)
There is no packing up and compartmentalizing the glory (which is the presence or weight) of God. He simply is in all and works through all.
