What I have learned this Week

It is saturday morning and I just finished making french toast for the boys.  Darcy is at a Missionettes retreat with Kylie, and will get back today.  Reflecting on the week, here is what I learned:

1.  I am captivated by numbers.  I loved being a part of the guiness world record setting download for Firefox 3. I check at least twice a day how many hits I have on the blog, and at least twice a week how many visitors the church website has hosted. Numbers get us from generality to actuality. (is that a word?)  It gives me a deep reality check when it comes to trying to measure the forward momentum of the church.  (We have around an 80% increase in unique vistors to www.mytruelife.org in June.  Way to go Web Team!!)

2. I love watching UEFA Soccer.  I picked Spain to win in it all from the beggining, so I feel good about my prophecy gifts.

3. I wonder where our country’s patriotism has gone.  I watched a video from Spain, and in the nationals captital the flag and colors of Spain danced around as thousands celebrated their country’s victory.  Being proud of your country is someting good.  It makes you take care of the land and each other, and little bit more.  July 4th is coming, and it makes me want to where my Red and White striped parachute pants.  (ok, maybe that is going too far)

4. I found new respect for single parents.  I have been by myself with my two boys for just over 24 hours, and the house is a wreck.  (Of course, we have wrestled in every room, and re-fought ever Star Wars Battle.  I win the wrestling, but lose the battles.  I get assigned to be Darth Vader every time.) My boys always want to cut off my head at the end of the battle.  Should I be concerned?

5. Having a dog named Jackson is fun & confusing.  We are taking care of a friend’s dog this week, and the dog’s name is Jackson (also the name of my oldest son).  When I call one they both come, and I just find that funny.  Again, Should I be concerned?

I hope to see you tomorrow.  Have a great Saturday.
