Day Twenty-Three: (Judges 18) 28 Days in Judges

Dear Reader,

I spent the past week on vacation.  I thought I I would be able to blog while on vacation, but that was just wishful thinking as our family spent several days running from one Disney ride to the next.   It was absolutley great, but left little time for much else.

I did keep up on the reading schedule, and I hope you are being challenged by it.  I am overwhelmed at the thought that God is writing His grand story even in the midst of such flawed people.  I am glad He still does that.

Here is my focus today: Judges 18:27-28

27 Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a peaceful and unsuspecting people. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city. 28 There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else.

The people of Laish were in perfect peace, because they lived far away from other tribes.  When you get near people, things get messy.  There is a cost in being relationship with people.  However, I believe the benefit far outweighs the cost.  When Laish was in need of help, no one was there.

God is wanting to bring into my life the blessing of more friendships.  It may cost me a little peace and quiet, but it may just be the thing that saves me in the end.
