On Thursday mornings I try to have a meeting with the CEO of TrueLife Church. His name is Jesus, and often times he has a lot to say about how I am running his organization. Some good, some not so good.
I usually go to special locations in Raleigh/Durham that help me get away from the norm; often this means a hike.
Today, I am trying somewhere new. I am at the NC Museum of Art sitting on a bench in front of an oil painting by John George Brown entitled “A Tough Story.” It depicts two boys describing a fight they just won. (I will try to find a picture to add to the blog).
Today’s section of reading in our “28 Days” starts with these words, “We proclaim him..”. These words are haunting me today. Who am I to proclaim the way of salvation? Haven’t all the words trying to compel and persuade people been used up and discarded.
And yet, sitting here in the midst of these works of art that have survived wars, fires, and theft, I am reminded by my CEO that not all the colors of paint have been used. There are still works of art to be created.
I have a story to proclaim about how Jesus saved me from the battle that sin was winning. I pray I can tell it as well as the young boy in this painting.
Here comes a whole class of kids on a field trip. I wonder how many of them know that God desires to paint a legendary story in them.
I think I have found a great new place to have a Thursday mornng meeting.
*UPDATE*
Here is the painting.. I hope you get to go see these great works of art for yourself.
