Today’s reading is densely packed with Paul’s instruction on what a follower of Christ in Colossae should look like. Things just haven’t changed much when it comes to the heart of people. Here is what makes the world pay attention: “sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (Colossians 1:5). Check out any of the news headlines: www.cnn.com, www.foxnews.com, www.msnbc.com. Which stories become first page news?
But my life should be full of different headlines: ” 12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Colossians 1:12). Living like this will not sell newspapers, but it will build great kids, great marriages, great communities, great schools, and great peace.
What is the headline of my life today? Verse 5 or Verse 12?
Going on not much sleep, this morning’s reading was so densely packed that it was hard to take it all in. This was a perfect breakdown! Thanks!
